Well, I've never personally mailed plants, but I've gotten plants from some people through the mail. You could use a damp paper towel and wrap the plants in moist towels, and then put them into a big ziplock bag. A priority mail pakage wouldn't be a bad idea if you're not sending out too much. They could probably survive a few days, but priority mail only takes 2-3 days to send anyways.
BTW, of the plants I get in the mail through private transactions, only about 1/2 actually are healthy and live in my aquarium since the trip here is pretty rough on them.
