Well, I had two SW tanks going for awhile, a 20 gallon long & a 29 gallon.
Both tanks had bad hair algae for sometime. In the proccess of trying to get it under control. I realized I just don't have the time to care for two tanks now, So I broke down the 20 gallon. That was about a month & a half ago.

The 20 gallon had almost 20 Lbs. of live rock in it. Since I broke it down, the rock has been in a 5 gallon bucket with a heater & power head & water from my 29 gallon. I did a water change on the 29 gallon & changed the water in the bucket with that water, hopefully this was a good idea. The bucket has been covered the whole time.

Now My Question :

Now, I want to add the rock from the 20 to 29 . Could i just put the rock right in ? is there something else I should do to it first?
I thought maybe rinse the rock with fresh water, ? I do use tap water still. Have not gotten an RO unit yet.

Thanks for any opinoins :hang:

IMO you could just throw the rock into the 29 gal without a problem. i wouldnt suggest rinsing it with fresh water it might kill some of the fun things you want to live.

Definitely don't rinse with FW. A good rinse with SW, and maybe a little scrubbing to remove debris, should be good enough.

Cool, Thanks a lot guys. :thm:

Oh.. I built a little platform for the rock out of plastic sink pipes & plastic tray organizers. I attach picture.
Hope this womt have any Ill affects on the water. ?
I'm gonna end rearranging all the rocks, probablly tonight.

thanks again,

Well, platform didn't work. Too big & the hollow tubes made it wanna float. So just put all the rock in, took a lot of reaaranging.

will post pic soon.

Thanks for the replies. :)
