my fish are little w**kers!!!
I'm a little on edge at the moment as I've had no fish trouble in months, but in the last week I've ended up with a Rosey Tetra in the Q tank looking like an extra from Resident Evil, and a Guppy with a belly almost twice the size of his head.
So the last thing I needed was a Moonlight Gourami with fin rot. But checking on the fishy fellas this morning I found him with no pectoral fin whatsoever. It was just not there. Wierd, it was fine yesterday. Checked again, still nothing.
Parameters checked. They're all okay. Nothing worse than having a sick fish when your doing nothing wrong. Panick time!
There's absolutelly no fin there, better check the fish doc site:
"Treat fin rot immediatelly before it gets to the stump, or the fish will die"
Massive panick time!!
Stick him in the Q tank!
Nooo! There's a tatra and a ton of meds already in there!
Leave him in his tank and chuck salt in!?
Nooo again! There's corys in there with him and they can't handle salt!
Only option: Run out and get some Fin Rot medicine! Hate randomly chucking medicines at ill fish but what else can I do. Really don't want him to die.
I get back and psyke myself up for bunging meds into a community tank.
I give him one more check over and lift the lid.
Just as I'm about to pour the stuff in the cheeky monkey flashes a perfectly formed pectoral fin at me and puts it back, tucked under his chin! How was I supposed to know they can retract them!? He tricked me! I swear the platies were laughing at me.
I left the room muttering something that started with 'little b' and and ended with 'arstards!'
Fish eh! Would'nt trust 'em as far as I can throw 'em... Come to think of it I could probably throw a Moonlight Gourami clear across the road if I put some effort into it
