Before I used to always have to clean the outside of my tank because it would appear that some water somehow dripped down the outside and left this mostly opaque white residue. However, I recently got a Brita filter and for a while I used distilled water (I learned my lesson and went back to tap dechlorinated), and never had this residue problem at all. But as soon as I went back to tap, I'm seeing this residue all over again. Does this have any correlation between alkalinity?
Oh, and the strange thing is that the water level is 2-2.5 inches below the top of the tank, so I don't understand how the heck it could have leaked out. Thanks a lot!
