I have a 40 gallon long tank that I bred a pair of managuenses in.The male is 10" and the female was 9".The male killed the female last week because she was ready to lay her eggs again and I didn't remove the 300 or so 1 month old fry from the previous spawn. My question is,if I sell the male, will the 300 or so half inch fry keep the tank cycled or will the bacteria die off? I am going to get rid of the male and just raise the fry.

If the tank has already been up and running and fully cycled, then there is no reason that the bacteria would die off. Your fry should be fine with frequent water changes and quality food. As they grow, you may need to spilt them up into other grow-out tanks to further increase the survival rate (which is already pretty good for these guys, they are tough) and keep there growth at a good pace. These fry sell fairly well in the S.F. Bay Area where I live, and hopefully they are popoular where you are too. Enjoy and good luck!
