Good Aquarium Software?

Hi All:

I am just about to get my first aquarium and want to do things right. I believe that keeping a good log will help me do this. I read where someone used "Maquarium", (http://www.everydaysoftware.net/maquarium/) which seemed great! The trouble is, I use Windows, not a Mac ("Maq").

I did a search using Google and found several other programs but am not sure what are good and what are not.

Can anyone recommend aquarium logging software for someone new to the freshwater aquarium hobby? Preferably, a program that I can grow with and use from new to intermediate to advanced freshwater hobbyist!

I don't know what a payware aquarium software would provide over freeware, but I'm willing to pay a little if it was worth it. I don't need only freeware.

I was always taught there was no such thing as a dumb question! There can be dumb ANSWERS (heh heh), but never a dumb question.

Aquarium logging software allows you to log your water test results and get a graph for trends over time - and see if you are at or approaching dangerous levels. Plus you can track when you added a fish, any spawning, when it died, how much you paid for it, write notes on behaviors, etc. Plus, you can keep track of equipment and plant additions. Some versions allow you to log water changes and they give you reminders (email or otherwise) of when to change again.

You can make the log as little or as detailed as you want. Its all up to you.

You could write a spreadsheet for most of this, but why do that when it has been done for you - and its free or low-cost!
