i think my guppy is pregnant! shes huge, and seen from behind, she looks black with dark pink with black spots on the bottom. if she is, i may be overrun with fry!
chances are they'll get eaten unless they have places to hide.
what other fish are in the tank? and do you have any small fish hiding spaces such as a clump of java moss?
i got 4 platies, 3 swords, and 3 glo lights. and i no java moss, but i do have a vine like plant with fuzzy roots thats real thick. and a front-of-ship decor with holes in it and a dark bottom where theyd hide. oh but i do have floating elodea, thats where i found my first 3 fry.
Sounds like they're surviving long enough to out grow the other fishes mouths. I reckon you'll need to sort out a deal with your LFS so that they'll take them for credit (not too sure how much credit you can get for guppies though), or separate the males from the females, or try removing the hiding places from the tank if you don't want the hastle in the future.
If you do decide the rear them for lfs credit, the nasty part is that you'll have to cull not only the deformed, but the excess babies also (unless you have space for unlimited guppies to grow into). Plus if the wrong two gupppies mate the off spring could end up looking ugly and the lfs might refuse them. Bad colour combinations etc. So you need to make sure you keep them in the right groups.
Here's a good website for helping you pair off guppies to make sure you have quality babies: http://home.clara.net/xenotoca/guppy.htm
Maybe find out how old they have to be before your lfs will take them of your hands as well.
my lfs buys fry for credit. they have to be at least 1/2 inch long though. and they usually end up as feeder guppies.
my guppy fry get eaten by my platys. i've only had to sell my guppy fry once. and it was only 12 fry. that was before i had platys in the tank. when the female guppy looks like it's going to give birth, the platys follow her around everywhere. they anxiously wait for the fry.
