Guys,

I am looking for some guidance in feeding my anenomes. How exactly do you do it? I try to give the Condy some brine with my net but he freaks out and curls up. The Leather Coral always brings his little tentacles in when I go near it. I just bought a Seabae and the Seabae Clown is loving his new home. What method should I use to feed this guy?

TIA,

Brian

I use a syringe to feed my coral. I got some syringes in my test kits, I took one and use it for feeding. You get the shrimp, put it in a glass of water so the shrimps seperate, then suck some in the syringe and squirt them out in the coral or anemone, its really easy.

While I don't have any anemones I do have a Feather Duster and I feed it much the same way as Oliver, except that I use a turkey baster. They're cheap and have enough length to them to allow you to get to the deeper portions of the tank.

That makes so much sense that I feel like a dummy for not thinking of that myself.

Thanks guys!

Umh, don't feed anemones brine . Try something like silversides or other raw meaty marine foods. Just let them thaw out add a little selcon chop into bits about the size of a us .5 thaw and place into anemone. You should feed it at least 3 or 4 times per week . Same for the sebae ," hope it isn't bleached or dyed lots of them are,".
I don't direct feed any of my softies I just feed the tank and they have done fine for a number of years. Just dose the tank with a little phyto,cyclopease/zoe and they should do fine. I just get sort of squirt the foods in their general direction and turn off my powerheads for 20 or 30 mins.

not to steal your thread but, It might be pretty neat if other folks posted how they feed their critters here. If you don't mind that is.

when i had one i fed it frozen shrimp (krill) they would be about 1-2" pieces and sometimes I'd soak it in chromaplex, so the anemone would get a little more, then while it was closing up on that I would try to give it as many silversides as i could (5-10 usually) and it would stick to its tenticles and pull them in. He was doing great, until my clowns loved it to death. I would seriously have ot get a 10" anemone for them to be happy.
