Hi,

For the past two weeks I have been trying to clean "fix" my Silver Dollars. I have a 30 Gallon Tank with 3 Silver Dollars. All three have this lite white filmy substance on them. They seem to be overly gittery and also all 3 are starting to aquire some sort of slow fin rot. I say slow because I have had fin rot on other fish, Angels for example, and when they get it their tails seem to go fast. It could be the same substance on their fins and it is just degrading their fins.

I have tried

Aquari-sol treatment for parasites and mild ick for about a week and it didn't do the job.

I then tried Fungus Cure to treat body slime and fin rot and that didn't seem to do anything either.

My Tank Set up (first off its a year old and fully cycled)

2 peal gouramis
2 blue gouramis
1 dwarf gourami
1 beta
1 large angle fish
3 Silver Dollars sick :(

Anyone seen this before and have any suggestions?

PS: All my other fish seem happy are showing no signs of ailment at all.

The Silver Dollars are eating and moving around so they don't seem to miserable.

Thanxs in advance

Do you have the water parameters? I don't think I can help you, but before one of my serpae tetras died of ammonia poisoning (didn't know the ammonia was so high :(), it had a white slimy film on it. Ammonia poisonining can also cause a fish's gills to change to a reddish color. Hope someone with more experience with silver dollars can help you.
