Thickness of Glass

Just wondering how thick is the glass on the larger tanks? 180g+

most any tank over 150 is acrylic. if it were glass, it'd have to be over 1/2" I'd think. Kyle

You can use garf's custom tank calculator to give you the recommended thickness of glass. http://www.garf.org/tank/buildtank.asp

A 180 is 72x24x24, so they are usually built with 3/8".

Er, any tank over 150 with acrylic would need 1/2" or thicker as well.

72" x 24" x 29" - It's an All Glass aquarium.

The glass on my 180 looks a bit thicker than 3/8... more like 7/16.

I tried garfs calculator but it does not work, I assume it calculates tank sizes for DIY projects?

I used 1 3/5inch acrilic on my tank , the front panel alone almost weighed 500 lbs , so I was told.
