i treated my tank for ich with coppersafe, it took almost 3 weeks for the last spot to drop (i didnt know bout the salt treatment then, i know to use it next time if i have to) but anyways im treating the tank for an extra week to make sure that i got it all but it took the life of one loach and weakened one of the other loaches really bad. hes real skinny and almost a transparent color except for the black strips and just dosesnt look to hot.(like the other one that died) :( he doesnt swim around much and just sits in one place for long periods of time. i did see him eat a little tho. i was wondering what i can or should do to try to make him more healthy, maybe a super food or something. like spinach for popeye haha. there is still coppersafe in the tank. this sat will be a total of a 4 week treatment(stubborn lil *******s) i know taking the coppersafe out would help but at the same time i wanna make sure all the ich is gone. i have 6 tetras, 2 angels, a betta, and 1 more clown loach besides the sick one that looks healthy. please :help:

Isn't that well past how long the label says to use the medication for? I understand the prescribed treatment isn't long enough to treat the full life cycle of the parasite, but extending the treatment beyond the listed time is hazardous to the fish--medications can impair the bio-filter, causing ammonia and nitrite spikes, as well as being an irritant to the fish.

I guess best advice--no, I wouldn't extend the treatment, I would make every effort to remove the existing medication, and provide improved water conditions. If ich comes back, an alternate treatment may be needed, but stressing the fish with this one won't help them in the long run.

yeah thats probly what i'll do, the bottle just says its enough to treat 100 gallons for a month and it took forever to finally get rid of it. and i know its alot harder on scaleless fish so....kind of a bummer but live and learn i guess.ill try salt next time. kinda new at this can you tell? poor lil fishies.
