I just got a 5Gal tank setup for my 25+ platy fry (three birthings) and I am looking for a good catfish or sucker to house in the tank to keep it a little cleaner.

I do have two Three-line cory's in my main 25Gal tank, would they be a good match? If not, then what kind would be better?

Thanks

Temp: 26 (78F)
Ph ~7.6
Hardish water

There is no room for bottom feeders, and they won't keep the tank clean. They will eat leftover food, but will add more waste.

A bare bottome 5g or 10g tank with some java moss and very clean water, good filtration is ideal.

When you say bare bottom, Im assuming you mean no gravel

Plants are better then other fish at removing harmful chemicals in the fry tank then?

Plants lock up the nitrate. When they die, take the plant out and that nitrate is gone, but the best and most important thing to do to grow out the fry (and get rid of nitrate) is frequent water changes. In the 5g fry tank changing a gallon a day wouldn't be over doing it.

The gravel will accumulate junk, and since the fry will soon be much bigger, it is best to keep things as hygenic as possible.
