What fish would be compatible for neon tetras? I want something that dwells toward the top of the tank. I was thinking about hatchet tetras but I don't want to have to worry about them jumping out of the tank. Thanks.

A dwarf gourami perhaps. They move all about the tank really, but they are air breathers so they spend time at the top.

Danios stay at the top mostly.

Killifish do, but I know nothing about them so you'd have to find out which species would work. They are beautifult hough.

I have a betta in with my neons. He stays in the top section of the tank most of the time.

i would suggest a cory catfish. I have a emerald green cory catfish. they are extremely peaceful fish, and terrific bottom feeders. i have one in my 10 gal with my neons and they are awesome fish.

I like the dwarf gourami idea. I have one at the office in a ten gallon tank with 8 neons and he is one good looking fish. They all get a long very well.

Harlequin Rasboras. They get a really nice color when they are happy and well fed, they will jump out of even the smallest openings though.
