Try spreading the flow of water from the water outlet with a sponge. What I mean is ,have you seen when people put sponges on intakes to stop fish being sucked in, well its the same principle only on the outlet.

Usually fishes that come from cool flowing rivers and streams.
I think danios like currents, and so do minnows and such.

When I put in my 660r's fro UGF, my P's started swimming towards the top part of the tank, which they never did before, I can tell they like it.

okay well..... thanks :) but need other ideas.
Most Rainbows like a decent current, most Barbs and Rasboras as well, and many of the Tetras will enjoy swimming against a moderate current. But all of the schooling fish should be able to get out of the current into calmer water.

Check the picture, it shows a basic MS paint drawing.
Now please remember that the power head moves 230GPH, so i have some good current in the water. I also still have to add a sponge filter on the intake, that will down the flow abit. But not much.

aim the outake at glass or straight up....I use penguin 660's and I kill current that way, just deflect it right off the bat and that will do it....
*edit* BTW, 660's are perfect for 30g tanks, output 170 GPH and 660r's come with a sponge pre filter and a Reverse flow kit.

My zebra Danios, Gouramis & Corys all love the current. The corys (a bottom feeder?) spend hours near the top in the current. The danios who are already up there will do some laps up stream, but it doesn't seem to be a struggle for them thus not as much fun I guess.
And I catch my 3-spot Gouramis going most of the way upstream, then he relaxes lifts his head and lets the current push him back to the begining.....only to start all over again.

here is a better picture of my actual tank, it shows the current flow. So far there is only one pleco from my old tank in this one. It is a 30 gallon, it is a little cloudy, but my filter will clear that in a few days.
Sorry to be off topic but I like your tank, especially the red slate against the blueish substrate.
