The water report for my city says the Alkalinity(as CaCO3) is 67ppm, and Hardness is 56. Is the Alkalinity kH, and the Hardness gH? What would the numbers be on the aquarium scale that most people use here?

17.9ppm KH= 1*dKH
17.9ppm GH= 1*dGH
If you want to be picky, it is 17.86ppm/dKH or GH. ;)
Alkalinity is KH.
"Hardness" is GH

So what kH would be ideal?
How about gH?
If that is ambigious, between what numbers should the kH and gH be so that is is not hazardous to fish and plants?

Being that this in in the Aquatic plant section I'll answer this in reference to the plants. They don't care. As long as there is at least 3degress of KH to prevent a PH crash and over 4degress of GH (Calcium and Magnesium in the water) the plants will be fine or if they do have problems it something else. No need to add any kind of PH buffers or magic potions or whatever else otherwise. Just need to dechlorinate and change water regularly.
