These guys continue to be a source of fascinating behaviour to observe. Every so often a couple of my corydoras will be doing their regular substrate patrol but then will appear to check his "patrol buddy" . . . sort of looks like one is checking the other to see if there is anything tasty resting on him. This usually results in a bit of a chase before they go back to whatever they were doing. I'm not sure if it's the same two fish that are doing this but it looks like a non-agressive gesture as neither fish seems traumatized or stressed by the behavior. Has anyone else seen this? Any idea if it means anything specific, or is it just one more form of crazy corydora antics?

I don't know what it means but my pepper cories do the same thing. I agree with you that it appears to be harmless.

My group does it too. I think they are just playing with each other.

My leopards do that as well. Nothing wrong with it or harmful at all I'm sure. ;) Cories are perhaps the most peaceful fish.

It actually sounds like the "T" formation that they use when they are preparing to spawn.

My guys do that too :) They also play a follow the leader type game when they all go single file "exploring" which is a great source of interest to both my Betta and myself :D

Thanks all, I feel a bit less anxious now. Corydoras really are fascinating fish.
