when i got home today, i saw a long piece of clear white, stringy poo hangin out. then as i looked at my gravel i saw it layin all around. i never seen my gourami poo before. is this internal parasites, should i seperate him. is it contagious. he is active and eats. what should i do

It sounds like internal parasites.

I think it is. Most likely that the other fish could have gotten it too. You could treat the whole tank, but you run the risk that it could have different affects to the other fish.

Jungle makes a food called Pepso food that will take care of that in a few days.

It's main ingredient is metrolinazole (sp)

I found if I feed too much frozen daphnia, stringy poo can happen. Gourami like to nibble on veggies. If you've fed peas or lettuce or other, it could be this too. Just a thought.

Yeah sometimes it can be the type of food you are feeding it, most of the times the poo should be the colour of the food you feed.

yeah, put in some lettuce the other day and by chance saw him poo today, and it was greenish, think i just jumped the gun.

thanks for putting this post up, it britened up my day, made me laugh every time I saw the word "poo" Im glad that there is no problem
