Hello all,I was just wondering, when treating with salt for ich,is it normal for the tank water to turn very cloudy?
And if so,how long will it take for the tank water to go back to normal?

Any comments very much appreciated.

I used salt to treat an ich outbreak, but it didn't cause any cloudiness whatsoever. How much salt did you add? What rate did you add it at?

The normal guideline is about a quarter of a teaspoon of salt per gallon added every hour (pre dissolved into tank water), until you hit 2 teaspoons of salt per gallon.

The temp is still on the rise right now,and i added half of the salt soluton about two hours ago.

P.S. I'm useing two tsp per gallon, and my fish are not showing any signs of stress.

Although I would hesitate to say it's normal, I have seen water cloud a bit with salt. Whether or not the salt is actually your issue is hard to say. I would watch the levels closely and let things run their course if it were me. It could be bacteria as mentioned, Either way as long as your ammonia and nitrites stay low, and your fish don't take a dive for the worse i'd just wait and watch.

When I have seen cloudiness, it usually goes away overnight, but once again it's hard to say.
