I am sponsoring a marine plant fest July 12-14 in Key Largo.
We typically find about 50 species each year.
There are few available species available in the hobby, this is one of the few chances to look for these rarely kept plants.
We stay at a Marine lab so cost are as low as you can get with a roof.
The group is limited to 15 total people.
We will island hop, stop by the reef, see ball forming algae, collect in a mangrove forest(not to collect any trees).
This trip is to identify and observe a few plants/macro algae and not to horde or be piggish. The collection of a few plants will be okay. Cost is 75$ per person, Lab room rates are 22$ a night. Food, transportation is shared among the group, flights should be to/out of Miami, FL. Key Largo is 1-2 hours depending on traffic.
I have done this trip 6 times for classes and this will be the same, except you will not get college credit nor be graded tested:-)
You will need to be able to swim and snorkel. Note, this is not dive trip, this is a shallow water trip for snorkeling.
Regards,
Tom Barr
