About a week ago I purchased a Knight Goby with some Neon Tetras. I was told that the Goby would do fine with the 5 Mollies I already keep in a freshwater 20L set up, but now I am discovering that some of these fish would probably do better in brackish conditions. I understand the tetras won't tolerate the change, but unfortunately the store never told me when I bought them together that the tetras would be an expensive snack for the Goby! I only have one tetra of the 4 left. I am also keeping 2 zebra danios and 2 ottos. Will they tolerate brackish conditions? Also what amount of marine salt do I need to add to switch my tank over?

You need 2 tanks. Ottos and neons will not tolerate porlonged exposure to brackish conditions. I assume danios won't either.

But for setting upa brackish tank you will need something to measure the Specific Gravity (SG) of the water (like a hygrometer). Plus you will need to add the marine mix slowly, rasing the SG no more than 1.002 SG a week or so. Plus your tank will need to recycle as the older bacteria die off to be replaced with a different strain of nitrogen consumming bacteria.

I don't know what SG Knight Gobies need but mollies can tolerate fresh through full saltwater so they will do fine in any condition, but just acclimate them slowly.

Knight Gobies would enjoy an SG of 1.005-1.008, light brackish water.
