I know some of you are very creative, I've seen the pics!!! Do you have any good decorating hints for a large tank(180g)? I'm not very creative, so all suggestions are welcome. I will be going with fake plants, at least for a while, and would like it to look somewhat natural!

Tis the season to find large river rocks at landscape supply companies. I got mine for around $0.20/pound. Beats the tar out of the $2.00/pd the lfs will charge.

I always forget, isn't there a test to make sure they are tank safe? To put a few drops of vinegar on them?

If vinigar causes bubbles to form then the rock will harden your water and raise the ph (good for rift lake tanks, bad for most community tanks)

I'd have to agree with that; I'm going to the local nursery this weekend.

well i r eally liked the slate wall idea(liked it so much i tried it) and it came out awesome ...i did a small scale version but think the slate wall and the slate cave i built really added to the natural look i favor so well..i have also seen some relly awesome landscaping done with live plants...how lucky you are to be able to landscape...will you be doing a store bought background or a homemade or painting the back?,,,i usually match my dacorations to whatever i use for background..

I got some vines with silk leaves from a discount store to put in my newt tank. The stems have wire inside so they are bendable to any position. I was surprised at how good they look, at least as good as fish store silk plants and drastically cheaper.

Get plenty of drift wood and decorate it that way. Nothing beats that natural look. :hi:
