Can a Betta live happily in a 20 gallon with a normal filter current?

Depends on the betta. My betta seems happy in a 20-gallon with a Penguin 170 biowheel filter and airstone. He specifically swims to the airstone and then makes a turn where his body doesn't get hit, but his tail floats with the bubbles. He must enjoy it because he does it a lot.

Im pretty sure a betta would enjoy a 20g. In fact, I think it would love it

I have to agree with FlyFly, a betta would love a tank that size. :dive2:

I have a betta in a 25 gallon with 11 whitecouds and 2 ottos, and 2 killifish.
I'm using an aquaclear 200 for filtration. He's a happy camper. :)
I've got my betta in a 20 gallon with regular filtration and he *loves* it in there! Swimming all around the plants and generally enjoying himself :D

I have a betta in my 10 gallon with a small current. He seems to be happy.
I think a betta in a 20 gallon would be just fine.

My betta was put in the 40G to help with the cycling (along with plants and snails)...and he has LOVED it! Now that I actually have fish in there and cory cats he is in heaven!
He plays in the plants and is very active...more active then I have seen Bettas in the LPS and he has a great personality. He loves when I stick my face close to the tank (thinks food is coming probably) and tries to school with the cory cats...but you know...Nitter Pitter couldn't play with the "normal horses". LOL
Very pretty fish...too bad you can't have a whole bunch in the same area.
