   i just got the best deal on an amphibian tank with all acss. and a ten missing only the gravel and heater! they were both free! so the ten has a hob filter, a working hood / light, a background (black) , an air bubbler , with a 12" bendable bubble bar, i broke the heater in transport! but hey it didnt cost me a thing..maybe i will try a planted tank! and the amphibian cage has the water hole bowl, all thermometers a heater pad that is under the bottom of tank , the cage top, and some awesome driftwood and the mulchy stuff at the bottom with some fake greens all hung through out! i have never had an amphibian but hye who knows! im gonna take a trip to the pet store and see what this set up would be best for any suggestions on what could live comfotably in a ten gallon cage like that?

Cool! I wish I could get those things for free but unfortunately I can't find anyone who will give away their stuff. Anyways, you could comfortably keep either fire belly newts or frogs. They shouldn't be mixed though.

By amphibian cage do you mean one of those big plastic containers with a ventilated lid? If so that should be fine for something primarily terrestrial that you could keep at room temp. It would have to be something that doesn't need alot of climbing space either. Have you considered land hermit crabs? They need high humidity, but they are really easy otherwise.

well its actually an amphibian aquarium, you know the kind with the feeder whole thing on th eside it is all glass and has a heater pad and thermomiters in it..it has a water dish that is about six inches around and one inch deep...its got plenty of spave for something smallish to crawl around and have looked into the newts ...these were actually just going to be thrown away! the girl wa smoving to florida for college and didnt want to take them ...i wa slike well hmmm let me think ..i might have room lol ...i think the one for the amphibian is about an equivalint to a twelve gallon maybe?

on a side note tricksterpup if you happen to read this again...could you please give me some info on the ?killi? fish you so highly recomend for small aquariums ? i think i am going to turn the ten into a planted and since they are live bearers and they do well in smaller tanks i would like totry them in it.

From an earlier post.
OK, I am an advocate for only one fish that will thrive in a tank this small and do very well for people
The fish I recommend is the Heterandria formosa, aka the least killie or dwarf live bearer. This guys are hard to come by, these are usually a special order from your pet shop but they are great fish.
The males reach about 1/4 of an inch long at full adult hood and the females are larger at an inch. They are very peaceful fish and thrive in tiny tanks. I own a small colony right now in my 5 gallon. I plan on getting more soon for an outdoor container. But they do well having plants like hornwort floating on the top of the tank and they eat crushed fish flakes.
