hi,
this is the situation. I have an old tv with just a coaxle input. I also have a little home entertainment system, and a vcr, and a digital cable box. Is there any way to get good clear digital sound from the tv even though I don't have rca inputs, or svideo?
If I setup the svideo from the digital cable box to the entertainment system, through to the video, but then just connect the coaxle to the tv, will it work, or do I need svideo or rca cables to connect to the tv directly ? ? ?
I don't understand much on this stuff, so any help would be greatly appreciated. . .
thanks,

I'm not an expert,
but if you are only worried about the audio, and assuming that you actually have everything already hooked up to your TV through the coax, then if you have audio out from the cable box and the vcr, then you should be able to put those directly into the stereo and keep the audio and video seperate.

OK cool. . . phewf. . that's what I wanted to make sure of. I do have the rca cables from the digital cable box.
reason is, the digital cable comes with a whole bunch of music stations, and I wanted to hear them well. not even for the movies, more for the music it comes with.
now all I gotta figure out is how the heck to set everything up.. ;)
thanks guys.

actually, if you wanna get the best sound, use an optical cable, thats the best way to get sound out of something, if your entertainment system is fairly new, look on the back of the reciever/dvd player, and also look for an output from the digital cable box, thats if you want THE best sound you possibly can have

OK Cool, thanks.
for now I set it up with RCA cables, I'll look for the optical ones tonight.
I have a question. I have these computer speakers, they really kick ***. 400 watts, loud, clear, crisp... Creative makes them... The quality of the speakers are better than those of the entertainment setup. Is there any way I can connect these speakers to the cables box? the speakers have 2 outputs, which are both headphone jacks. . . Anyone know if there's such a thing as an adapter for these outputs to be transformed to RCA plugs?
Thanks..

Yup.
I did a quick check on Radioshack and found This (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=42-2540)
I can't tell if it's Stereo or mono (You'd definately want Stereo) but it should give you a rough idea of what to look for, you should be able to find one in any department store somewhere around the TVs.

Nice... thanks man... Except, this is a male 1/8 jack to rca's. I need a female to rca. but I don't think it's a beig deal to find that adapter.
I found this on the logitech web site, and it seems like it'll work out fine. My only concern is that my speakers have 2 1/8" jacks, this adapter has three. I'm wondering if this would matter. . .
