hello. i got a 20g with a male pink convict . i like him and wonder if he would breed . he tries to bite me when i backwash . im worried that hell kill any female that i put in there. so instead of going through all that maybe i should sell him back to the slp. plus i have no ideas of what i would do with the fry. i was thinking of getting some puffers , bumblebee gobies and some plants (vallisneria or whatever). i was planning on getting a 55g to make brackish but i guess ill make a cichlid tank with the 55. should i get rid of the cnvict?

Go the brackish if you havn't done one before it will be good experience for you. Also brackish tanks can be fun getting everything set up properly. Goodluck. :coffee2:

Go community, but forget the kribs (too common). Go with apistos (same requirements) and pick the tank mates so that you can breed them. hatchet fish, pencil fish, otos, and ghost shrimp as garbage men (they'll slowly get eaten by the apistos, but you can always buy more, and the apistos get a kick out of the hunt)

Having kept a few apistos.... I've never had them eat fish the size of pencils or otos... I don't think they even ate guppy fry when the guppies gave birth.

I'm going to say trying to keep cons in a 20g and breed them would be a bad idea, minimum tank size for a breeding pair is a 29g.

Personally, I would do the kribs and a nice shoal of glo-lights, kuhli's, and otos. Kribs have amazing color and personality when they are happy. And, if you keep them in the tank where sunlight might hit them, their appearance is stunning.

lol, I meant the ghost shrimp would slowly get eaten, not the pencils and otos. Although I routinely fed them newborn guppy fry and they absolutely loved them.

i know i coulndt have kept him really long in a 20g thats why i was getting a 55 long tank. i just converted to pool sand yesterday. when i go ''en ville'' ill buy some heavy driftwood and some java fern. then some big rocks would b enice. i useed to want apists really bad then i fell in love with the con but i got bored pretty quick. i was going for a. cacatuoides double red male and some common female(less expensive). even though kribs are common they still are geourgeous fish. either way im decorating the same.just need o decide if i go brckisg.

well i got alil update for yall
today i wanted to sell the male pnk con bck to the lfs but for some reason i coulnt. i guess i got attched i swear he made eye at me likke that puss in boots from shrek.so im buying a female black con next week hope they get it on.ill keep them in the 2og for a while intill i get my 55g cichlid tank. then ill make the 20 brackish and since the stand im buying can house 2 20gs im gonna get nother tank then ill do the community tank with the kribs and alll. i guess if you cant pick what tanks you want just get them all!!!
