Today, I went to go add some Fin rot medication to my 29 gallon tank today and the kind of medication I have is in a dry pebble form. When I dropped the right amount in, I noticed that some of the fish actually ate a few pebbles of the medicine. Is this ganna hurt them at all? Or is it normal. Thanks-

Ryan

That shouldn't hurt your fish. After all, they will be breathing the stuff once it dissolves. I'm actually surprised they didn't spit it back out, I would assume it probably tastes awful...

I'm pretty sure the main ingredient in the powder or granulated fin rot and fungus meds is salt, but I could be mistaken.

By nature I'm a curious man, but not to know either the brandname or the ingredients of the pebbles you dropped in the tank thwarts my curiosity.

I doubt they will cause harm, but like wetman asked, what brand are they?

it's called Jungle Fungus Eliminator.

Jungle Labs don't reveal their ingredients but they claim this: An effective anti-protozoan, anti-bacterial treatment to clear advanced fungus and bacteria problems. Highly effective against a wide variety of of diseases, including columnaris, costiasis, dropsy, furunculosis, hemorrhagic septicemia, fin and tail rot, mouth rot, sore or cloudy eyes and swim bladder disease.

This is quite a wide-ranging cocktail. I'm sure your fish spat it right out again. Fish are so savvy about chemicals it's hard to get them to eat medicated food when you want them too.

You should always know what it is you're putting in the aquarium. I don't like stuff that doesn't list ingredients. That's just me.
