I have an integrated wet/dry with a pair of sponges acting as mechanical filters before the water dumps into the bio-balls sump. I have not been happy with the water clarity and blamed it on the sponges doing an inadequate job of mechanical filtration. I lined the sponges with the 500 micron cloth and BAM. Works great. I even put a couple pieces on top of the sponges which I wash every day. My water has never been clearer. I am concerned that as it collects particulate matter is might start reducing flow so I will have to watch it. So far so good. The cloth is cheap. Comes on four foot spool and sells for around $3 per foot. So for $20 bucks I think I have enough to last a year.

I highly recommend it.
