I have a piece of driftwood in my tank that is no longer leaching into the water. My question is if i cut the piece of wood in half will it start to leach that red colour again?

It may. Try it and see. If you dont like it, soak it in a jug of water for a while. This way no colour goes into your tank.

Yeah, I heard boiling the drift wood will make it become safe for aquariums. I'm not sure though. Can anyone verify that boiling drift wood would make it not leach into the aquarium?

It just quickens the process of removing the colour. It also kills off any bacteria, and anything else on the wood.
