been very busy lately and some of my anubias are not doing well.
will it be better for me to move some outdoors where they'll get morning sunlight in a 15 gallon tank..? and i'll make sure i dose with ferts?
any suggestions?
my tanks aren't lit right now since i ran out of sockets for my lighting
I have one medium size anubia in my tank and I have tried everything...it is simply a slow grower with lots of roots! I have finally moved it into the 10G with a 30 watt light and it's finally growing new leaves.
It gets Plant-Gro and CO2 fizz tabs once a week and is in with anachris, aponogtons (sp?) and a "growing too big for this tank" amazon sword plant. LOL
I will say that I have strange spotting going on the leaves that makes me think that it may need different nutrients....but it's doing much better than it was and the spotting seems to be not as blantant in the new tank. It's a hardly little plant and definately one that I would like to keep!
I have heard that these plants will survive in people's closet's for months on end and then return to the tank w/o a problem (theorically). I wonder if this plants needs something not found in the normal ferts or CO2?
Can anyone help? The problem is spotting on the thick leaves of othewise slow-growing hearty plants....
Anubias are emerse plants which grow very slowy submerse. They are subject to green spot algae in tanks due to the several year life of an individual leaf, but that is dependent on general tank conditions favoring green spot algae, not the Anubias plant.
They are also subject to holes in their leaves from a lack of poyassium (K) in the water. Addition of potassium routinely will avoid these holes in new growth, but existing leaves with holes will not heal.
