My 20 gallon long is all set up! I'm just waiting for my fish. They should be here Saturday! The inhabitants will be: 3 German Blue Ram Cichlids, 5 Purple Emperor Tetras, 5 Sparkling Gouramis, 5 Japanese Trapdoor Snails, and a bunch of Ramshorn snails. I already have the Rams and 4 of the Tetras in my 10 gal. tank anxioulsy eyeing the tank next to them. My Bettas can't wait to have the 10 to themselves. There will be 5 Platies in with the Bettas when I get them in. Here are a couple of pictures of the new 20 gal. tank:

Wow, it looks great! :) Are those real plants?

Please post some pics of the tank when you get all of the fish in there too!

Looking good, Beeker. :thm:

Great job Beeker,

I just got two small German Blue Rams past one week and they are quickly becoming my favorite fish. Do three work well together?

Thanks everybody! :D I'm really excited! Most of the plants are real. The only fake plants are the ones stuck to the fake driftwood. One in the back left corner and one small one on the right side (not the big one in the middle). You can tell the two fake plants from the real ones because they are bright orange.
I would have to recommend 2 Rams. I only wanted 2, and I didn't even want them yet. I was planning on getting them a couple years from now. I ordered 3 Sparkling Gouramis from Liveaquaria and they accidentally sent me 3 Rams instead. Now, I'm making many unexpected changes to accommodate them. Ask around if it would be okay to house more than 2 in one tank, if so, I would keep it in multiples of 2 because they like to be in pairs.

Thanks. :)
It does have Java Moss on it, down a crease in the middle, and some Java Fern on each end. I also have some Anubias nana on the right end. I plan on putting a little more Anubias on it on the left front and the right back but the pet store where I buy it ran out.

You inspire me Beeker...I am at present working on setting up a 20L myself. What do you have for lighting over that tank...looks like a dual striplight...I'd guess flourescent. What type bulbs are you using ?

I have a dual striplight for mine and am trying to find out what the best type of bulb will be for a planted 20L as far as the K-rating goes. Right now it has the two 20Watt T12 bulbs the fixture came with, but I have no idea what the K-rating is on them.

I would reccomend that you find another home for the oddball ram. The other two will probably just harass it to death eventually. They really don't like to share thier space with other rams and a 20L tank is just the right size for one pair.

As far as my 20L goes...I picked up one of those new models of the penguin bio-wheel for this tank....what a piece of junk that thing is !!!! I'm taking it back. I do want to have a bio-wheel for that tank, but I can't seem to find the old style anywhere...before they made those $profit$ inspired pieces of trash they are selling now. I can't even get the intake tube short enough to fit the tank...they added this new fangled thing on it that I can't for the life of me figure out what it's supposed to be for....... :mad2: oO(dang...I hate change !)

Anyway....lol...nice tank, you did good ! :thm:
