I had a red oscar who I was treating for eye cloud/pop eye with melafix, and when I came home today his eyes were gone!!!! I dont know if they just popped or what, if another fish did it or what happened. I just wanted to know if there was something I did wrong or if anyone has had this happen to them before. Any info would be appreciated.
Thanks
E

Eyes are the first thing that a predator goes for if the victim is too big to inhale. Oscars have big juicy eyes, so what else you have in your tank with him?

Suspect #1 would be the largest-mouthed fish you have in your tank.

You may choose to euthanize this fish, as it's likely to develop an infection. My method of choice is to put the fish in a bowl full of tank water, sealed TIGHT and put in the freezer until frozen solid. The fish's metabolism slows down as the temp drops. If this is a big oscar, it may not work right (will suffocate before hypothermia). Just DONT flush him please, at least alive.

Yes I put him to sleep last night. Did the freezer method and I dont think he suffered too much. Thanks for all the info.

Sorry to hear about the loss, but he went peacefully I assure you.

Narrow down the culprit quick, and get rid of it (or keep it alone). If it'll eat oscar eyes it'll eat anyone's eyes.
