new plants

i just got some new plants (anarchis, and an unknown plant), and they had a little lead ring on them to keep them all together. well when i got home, i just stuck the whole thing into the gravel, lead ring included. is that ok, or do i need to remove it? will it have any long term effects if i leave it in there?

Chances are that the ring isn't made of lead anymore, mainly due to health concerns. However, I would still remove the ring for various reasons (prevents the roots of the plants from choking one another)
