View Full Version : Help with Blue Gourami please

I have a 55gallon fw community and I do weekly water changes.(approx 20 gallons)
My ph is 8 (it's always been 8 and never changes)
Nitrites 0/Ammonia 0
KH 7/GH10
I have a blue three spot gourami and it has a white spot with a dark ring around it on the top of the fish between the head and top fin. There is also a similar spot by the gill.She still eats and swims around but is starting to act a little sluggish. I was reading about fungus but it doesn't really look like the pics of fungus I've seen. Thanks ahead of time for your help.
The other fish in the tank are 2 other gouramis, 2 lf rosy barbs, 3 bleeding heart tetras, 2 giant danios, and some ottos. I have my specs in the member tank forum but didn't put it in my sig yet.

Is the ring, solid black, all black ?

The spot itself is white but it has a small total black ring around it. The other spot is just white without a ring around it.

Well if it was all black, I would of said it was the color-controlling nerve, that was pinched by a thyroid tumor, other than that I dont know. It could of been born with it Never heard of this problem you have, hopefuly someone else can help you with it, I can also learn what it is too.

Thanks for replying so quick. I'm not sure if the black ring means anything or not since the other spot doesn't have one.

Does it look like a fungus, is it hairy ? or just a white spot and black ring, that looks like it's in the skin it's self

At first I thought maybe it was a fungus but it's not hairy or fuzzy.

has the gourami ha the spot it whole life since u bought it or has it just appeared?

I was getting a better look at it this morning and I think the black ring is actually the natural black marking but the white is covering it. (I hope that makes since) I've noticed that the other gourami I have is being a bully. Could it be from injury maybe? I have some melafix but don't know if it would do any good so I don't want to use it yet.
