I know I' ve posted a few threads about fish to stock for my tank. Well this will be last one. Alright tank specs and occupents first. 30g tank. No sump, but gonna get a refugium. 250w MH, with 40w actinics. Prism skimmer, powerhead for water flow, various soft corals, a true percula clown, 15 lbs of LR, 4" DSB.

Well the fish I want to add are:

1 royal gramma
1 mandarin goby
And 1 other fish not sure what type to get yet.
Well the fish I am looking into getting are either a longnose hawk, a banggai cardinal, a bicolor blenny, a flame or other type of dwarf angel, or a 6 line wrasse. Out of those fish what do you think would be the best choice??? I dont want anything competing for food with the mandarin. If you have another fish to suggest I am totally open. Also about the mandarin. I am going to try to get one that takes prepared foods. I am going to get the mandarin in the summer to give more time for the tank to get established, plus another 15 lbs of liverock, going to get a 10g refugium, and on top of that I have already a glass crawling with little clear critters, copepods I think. So I am hopfully all will work out.

I am totally open to all suggestions and thanx in advance for any help ;)

Definitely skip the 6-line as it will compete for pods with the mandarin. A small angel would be the most active option - the perc clown, gramma, and mandarin are fairly slow/sedentary, so the angel might be a good choice to liven things up a bit. I kept a cherub angel (C. argi) for some time in a reef with no complaints.

Thanx Boogie:). I really was hoping someone would suggest an angel, they are very nice fish. Two last questions. The types I am very fond of are flame, pygmy cherub, and coral beauty. What out of those would be the best choice for a reef? And lastly, should I add the angel last as it is the most aggresive, or am I wrong there.

Anyway Thanx alot for the help boogie ;)

I would suggest the pygmy (cherub) angel over the CB and flame. I have a CB in my current reef, and while it's not aggressive or really prone to doing it, it does nibble on corals from time to time. The cherub never did this to my knowledge. Never kept a flame in a reef, but I've heard mixed feedback from others. Either way, the cherub is the best fit from a size perspective as well.

Alright one last thing. what is the aggresion of the cherub? I am thinking I should add it last, even though I wanted to add the mandarin last, what do you think Boogie?

Just wanted to say thanx again ;)

I read a result a little while back that said one out of every two Flame Angels is not reef safe. I have a Rusty Angel (Centropyge ferrugata) in my semi reef (has some polyps, Bubble Coral, Pearl Coral, Carpet Anemone, and gorgonian in it), and I think it is one of my most favorite dwarf angels. She was shy at first buy is now much more brave. I have heard from several sources that the Rusty's are reef safe and she has proven this. Just thought I would chime in about the Rusty. I find that pygmies generally aren't too aggressive but I would add the angel then the mandarin. Also for another fish suggestion you could look into the Assessors (blue and yellow). I would add one of these before the Royal if you decide to go with one.
