:help:

Hi all,

I live in South Africa and have a fresh oyster import/distribution business.

The demand for live oysters has grown to such an extent, that I now have to create a facility to stock oysters.

I need help on the following:

1) What size skimmer do I need for 4 500 l sw ?
2) Suggestions on coal or substrate use?
3) Max stock in the water

ANY, ANY other good advice greatly appreciated !!

i dont know much about oysters... but i do have two things to say
you probably dont even need a skimmer seeing how oysters are filter feeders. you will have to prevent your water from being polluted, but a skimmer will take out a lot of the food that an oyster needs to survive.
as far as substrate: i would suggest what they naturaly grow in.... mud. it producesa heck of a lot more macro fauna for the oysters to eat than anythign else. however, as im sure you know, the oysters will dig in it, and if you keep disturbing the mud, then that oculd cause amonia spikes. some live sand may work seeded with a little live rock for filtration also..
however, i dont know much about oysters or what you are trying to do
so sorry i cant be a big help:look:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oyster.. that should help you alot.. and i think running a "small" skimmer would help keep the water fromfouling up to quickly... try looking into the G series skimmers.. hooking that up to all you tanks should help alot.. substrate should be mud and sand mixed to gether and give them a sufficient ammount of flow
