peat plates?

hi .
pretty soon im getting a planted amazon tank . i wanted too know if it would be goood to put some peat plates under the gravel for the pants to grow,

A small amount of peat is helpfull in getting a new tank's substrate off to a runnning start, but I don't know that more is better. One way that has good results is to first add a layer of mulm, a sprinkling of peat, and your florite/profile/ecocomplete/substrate of choice as the makup of your substrate.
