I am nearing completion of a pond and have encountered a problem. I have filled the pond with water and now after a few days the lining is bulging up in places. I have checked out the bulges and found that it is air underneath part of the lining. The air is not under a lot of pressure and walking on it easilt pushes it down. There are two linings of polyetylene sheet, the top one being a thinner gauge and the lower one a thicker gauge. The linings are laid on top of special pond underlay which in turn is on top of terram (which is a geotextile sheet), I was worried that the lining underneath had been pierced by something letting air in from somewhere but it looks like it is only the thinner lining that has bulged up. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? The edges of the pond are not fully secured yet but are held by rocks every 5 feet or so. Could it be that the lining has slid loose in places and in the warm weather any residual air underneath has expanded to cause the bulges? My worry is that I can't put rocks in the water everywhere to keep the lining down. My other worry is that there may be some leak but I think this is unlikely as there is so much underlay etc. If other people have encountered the same problem it would put my mind at rest. Also has anyone any fixes or suggestions?
