Hello, I am in the process of setting up a newly acquired aquarium. It is 36 inches long x 12 inches deep x 18 tall. I currently have an African cichlid tank with arautus, kenyi, johanni, and synodontis eruptus, and another tank set up with tetras, barbs, and cory’s. I would like to have something different for this tank, and welcome all suggestions.
Thanks

Im not sure but i think you have an overstock of fish. I dont know much about tthose fish but i believe they will out grow your tank.
are you going to trade in or sell some fish and get new?

bump for the pros to comment

I currently have two additional aquariums set up in addition to the newly acquired one. The tetras, barbs and corys are in a 29, and Africans are in a 55. I simply wanted suggestions for stocking the new tank, all the other fish are staying in the tanks they are in.
Thanks.

are you set on freshwater or would you consider brackish or salt water

Probably fresh water, I plan on a marine tank in the future but I am just not ready yet.

I have the same dimension tank with inhabitants listed, soon to add one more clown loach, minus one adf:( The adf's have personality and make for a different look, other than fish. I can't wait to see the two clown loaches interact. Betta has cool personality as well.

If I had another, I'd get gouramis going on, and loaches, or female bettas and loaches. or I'd go for a couple of groups of small school fish and some guppies (not sure if they school). Hatchet fish seem cool too, but I have no experience.

there is my 2 cents.

you might consider a heavly planted aquarium with some neon tetras or other schooling fish the fish will thrive with the plants because they feed on the nitrates the only down side is that you have to get nicer lighting and depending on the type of plants you may have to get a CO2 injector
