:help:

I am looking to purchase a 2x65 watt power compact strip for my 54 gallon corner tank.

Everyone says its about wattage... I currently have 40 watts coming from standard, florasun, corasun bulbs (zoomed). My plants grow nicely, but a I looking for more.

1) in my reasearch on the web. compact fl. emit 3 to 4 times the amount of light as a standard bulb. Will this make my tank insanely bright?

Help

I won't say "insanely" bright, but it'll be a lot brighter than what you're currently used to (40 watts of NO fluorescent tubes), that is, unless you have like 6 of them already :D

Anyways, with PC's pumping out so much more light, you'll definitely need to keep on top of your macro and micros dosing and probably have to start injecting CO2 as well.

I am using a 4x55 from AH suply on ny 90, the plants grow well. The tank is not blinding to look at I think you will enjoy looking at your plants and fish with the brighter light.

When I switched to compact fluorescents I couldn't believe I how dull the old lights looked. I would never go back. With 2 95 watt lights, you will have about 2 watts per gallon. You don't need co2. You can do it, but you don't NEED it. I have 3 watts per gallon and no co2 and my plants grow very well and I have no algae at all.
