I'm going away for 10 days, and will have someone come in to feed the fish. I've got 4 platies & an amano shrimp that will be fed once a day (or maybe every other day). I also have 13 fry in a breeder net in that tank (new tank not set up yet). I've been feeding them finely crushed food 2x per day. I think it would be too much to have someone come in twice a day to feed them....how often do they need to be fed while I'm away? Will they be okay with one feeding per day? What about every other day?

I think all the fish would be fine with every other day. I hate to admit it, but I have 3 platy fry in a breeder net and sometimes I forget about them  . They occasionally miss a day or two of feeding and have been just fine, they've been in there for several weeks, maybe thats why they're growing so slow :o

Thanks, Holly. Do you think that they could go any longer than that for feeding? Could all the fish do with just 2 or 3 feedings over the course of the 10 days I'm gone? Or would I risk losing the fry?

That would probably be fine, but I'm not totally sure...I have had fry survive that I didn't know about, and they were obviously picking at whatever they could find, and made it. I bet if someone came 3 maybe 4 times they'd be alright
