i baught a sword plant at petsmart like 6 months ago and it has been doing fine and growing nicly, the guy at the store told me if one leaf/stem dies and is not pruned it will kill the whole plant, is this true? one leaf/stem is dead/brown and i did not prune it, is my plant going to die??

I don't know if your sword plant will die... just go ahead and cut away the dead pieces. I have a red sword also, I always cut away the dying parts so it doesn't add waste to the water. Yesterday I noticed that it is growing new leave and sprout a new plant at different location so I guess its a sign its doing better now after all of that trimmings??? ;-)
