I just got a Betta for my daughters 10g tank. She has a nice BIO-Wheel filter and an aeration pump. This has created a little water movement. I know filtration and aeration arent necessary for Bettas but will too much movement harm him???

Filtration is needed just as much for a Betta as it is for other fish. Aeration isn't as big a deal since they can take a gulp of air if they need it. As long as he doesn't have to constantly fight the current and can find a quiet spot in the tank if he wants it, I think he'll be fine.

This is true for Males Bettas more then female, in my 75g, the male always hangs out in the hornwort I have floating, the female would rather be out swimming around chasing the other fish away lol....

My Betta's in a 20 gallon with quite strong filtration and loves it there :) He's very happy and is always blowing huge bubblenests :) I do have a few tall plants in there as well, which do help to break the current up. He seems happy :)

Both my bettas like their water circulation. The one in the 10 gal hangs out by the filter output in the current and uses it like a little fishy treadmill. :dive2:

hi i am new here..i just have a quick question..
will my betta be ok in well water?..we just moved to the country from the city..and i was just wondering if the well water will be ok for him to live in. thanks in advance!

best thing to do would be to get a test kit and see how your well water pans out.

it will more than likely be pretty clean with no harsh baddies put in by the locak water treament plant, but you may have to look at hardness and ph and the such to see how it is.

MLSM4, Filtration is important, however I have found that betas will get stressed if they can't get to the surface. Try raising the water level a little. Also, since there is only one fish in there, you could try nocking the power on that filter down a tad. Thanks for giving that beta some space!
