I have a 55-gallon freshwater--started in Jan--with an Emperor 400 BioWheel, heavily planted and some driftwood. So far, my community consists of:

15 white cloud danios
5 tetras
7 spotted cory cats
3 dwarf Gouramis
2 ottos (had some brown diatom algae they took care of and bought them on the advice of my lfs here who hasn't steered me wrong yet but...

Two weeks ago, I added four Blue Rams...Two of them, a male and female, have paired, the other two are male...and they squabble. Should I see if my lfs will trade one of the males for a female?

I would also like to know how a Rainbow Shark might do in this community.

Please, any advice...

Thanks,

Yeah, I would try and get a female for him, otherwise all they'll do is bicker and fight......I don't know about you, but I certainly get enough of that from my own family, don't want to have to deal with it in my tanks too....lol....

I don't know about the rainbow shark. I dont know anything about them. I saw some irridescent sharks today...and they are quite pretty. Are they the same as the rainbow shark ? Most of the shark type fish get pretty big though.

Thanks Emg,

My lfs traded with me so I did the swap yesterday. He only had one or two to chose from and they were both a bit larger (almost full size). The other three are just a smidgeon smaller. The new girl is adjusting alright since yesterday, despite constant rebuffs from getting in the other females territory.

But the lonely male I'm hoping to pair her with has not really taken an interest yet, though he halfheartedly chases her away...I hope it works out.

I have reconsidered getting a Rainbow Shark and opted for a bit of a larger school of Rasboras...added six more, making 11 total, and that's gonna be it.

Now hopefully everyone will just get along...

Thanks again!!!

Love your picture by the way :D
