Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for the advice!

Here's my final result:

29 gal.

7 neon tetras
5 black neon tetras
5 guppies
3 velvet swordtails

Everyone seems to be doing good! The swordtails and black neons add some good color. Only problem is one swordtail is a bit nippy, do you think he will calm down once he gets adjusted?

I would just return the swordtail. I once had a sword tail that terrorized everything in the tank, and she never did calm down. It will just cause more problems, so it would be best to return it before it causes trouble.

Some swords can be quite nippy, others are fine, it all depends on the individual fish. If you can return it, go for it.
