:help: as i went to net one of my guppies, one of my upside down catfish swam by and got his fin stuck in the net. I cannot get him out, and he is so small i feel worrysome working around him with scissors. help fast please

try cutting the net farther away from him. I mean it'll still be stuck and maybe have some drag on his fin for a while but it'll probrably come off.

now he is on the bottom, with a peice of net about 2 inches across stuck to his fin. he is gasping, and he hasn't moved. I wish there was something I could do for him, but i dont want to just pull it off for fears that i may take his fin with it. It will just fall off? I was thinking that some other fish may pick at it, and maybe that will help, but other than that, i have no idea what to do.

Try with a pair of manicure scissors and cut a little closer to his fin. Give him some rest time before you try anything else though because by the sounds of it he's getting stressed out.
