Soccer is growing in popularity here, but the sports agenda is already pretty full with football (US style), baseball and basketball.

I dunno, why don't I? Sweeping generalizations seldom do anyone any good. I actually do enjoy futbol/football/soccer, it's just not on television a whole lot here. Add to that, I only have basic cable so I rarely if ever get to cheer on my favorite team: Manchester United!

Soccer is more popular here than most people think. The USA is ranked number 10 by FIFA. Not bad for a young soccer nation. At least I can support the US in the next world cup since my home nation will not even qualify :mad2:

Well, Vilhelm, I'm looking at the current FIFA rankings right now and USA is indeed #10..Sweden is #12...and soccer is indeed quite popular for youth in the U.S. - at least in the San Francisco Bay Area where I have coached my daughter and son for years...I prefer watching soccer live rather than on tv. I will enjoy Vilhelm!

I played soccer from kingergarten through 5 years for college. I would rather be ON the field than watching it. I'm too jealous of the players! Ah, soccer high is the ultimate high. :dance:

Come on vilhem surely you watched the last world cup. The US done really good, got to the quarter finals. Better than Sweden done. I reckon they are an even stronger team now and would give any team in Europe a run for their money. I know you think that's a bold statement to make but Europeans don't pay much attention to football outside their own part of the world.

hehe...the rank site FIFA(no realistic)....they count who teams you played....ican isure you nr12 on that site have played against better teams than usa....and quarterfinal?in last cup...yes senegal...and we been kicked out,,,the hole nation was chocked.But....the usa are on the move thats for sure!

I also played for about 10 years when I was young. I just noticed that in the womans devision, USA ranks #2 in FIFA.

Dale Are I sure you be reading that right? You sometimes take much to seriously! Swedes are I assuring you blonde and strong, so rankings do not counting.

No offense there, Vilhelm, but seriously, you're making even more sweeping generalizations and just flat out stating facts incorrectly. Hair color and size mean little in rankings, I are be assuring you. ;)

Sorry, but I'm from Europe and you are just plain wrong. When I first moved here I was surprised at how far things have come. You have to pay attention to how other places in the world have improved their game (Asia, Africa and the US).

Being realistic, there's only a handfull of teams from Europe and South America capable of winning the world cup. For everyone else, just qualifying is what it's all about. After qualification, everything else is a bonus.

Uh, Dude? I don't talk dirty to guys. It just doesn't do it for me. I heard they were a lot more open there in Europe, but down here in Texas... As for using my BB, well, I'm a big boy now so I carry a .45 instead of an air rifle. As for the rest of that, I have no idea what you are saying because I speak English. Here's to hoping there is a Swedish Fish Forum in the works. ;)

Sure you mention some good European teams but when it comes down to it, only one or two will perform when it counts. That's how it goes. How well did France do last time? Didn't even score a goal :laugh: As for Portugal, so sure they would stomp the US into the turf :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: Of all the teams you mention, only Germany are consistent.

Time for a reality check...Vilhelm...have you clicked on the link to the FIFA website that Yofishboy posted for your convenience yet? The US team may at any one time have been beaten by the teams you name. A team's overall win loss record goes into calculating their overall rankings...this isn't something WE made up..the site isn't even based in this country...so check it out.

Vilhelm..as we have established before..you do have a pretty darn good command of the english language.

And no..you can't pick up women on the fish board. :troll:
