Hello everyone. It's been a few years since I've posted in these forums. But I normally don't have a problem that I can't cure. Anyways. Here's the problem. I have this tank that used to have 2 oscars in it. I cleaned it weekly, and for some reason, they ALWAYS got this fungus on their bodies. I'd treat it, it'd go away, and a week later come back. Well, I moved, and I didn't like the tank my midas was in, and I wanted to bring him. So I brought the oscar's tank, and the midas. A week into the move, the midas gets this same fungus, but I forgot the medication at home. So I order this "Jungle, fungus eliminator". But it was taking too long to come. So I went and bought 3 different medications. One tablet, one liquid, one powder. every week now, I've been using a different medication (it comes back weekly it seems). It has to be something with the tank, because the midas has NEVER been sick before.

So what can I do to prevent this from EVER coming back?(btw it's the cottony fungus that gets on their eyes and makes them go blind, along with the rest of their body.. but it really likes the eyes.)

No rush on the reply, as I can just continue to kill it. But anything would be helpful.

Fwiw

Here's my thinking.
The stress of the move weakened midas enuf to succumb to the fungus which had been lurking in the tank.
The fungacides that you use don't eliminate the fungus, or even releive thefish long enough for it to get strong enough to resist reinfection. (If it even is re infection. For all I know it could just be the visible phase of an ongoing infection.)
This is what i think I'd do:
Get midas to a QTank.
Break down the fungus tank Completely and wash and dry everything thoroughly. If it were me, I'd put a little tea tree oil in the cleaning mix.
Throw away what can't be cleaned.
As for the fish.
I assume you are doing everything you can by way of supportive therapy along with the chemo?
extra clean water, extra good food, reduced stress...
I wonder if melafix in the Qtank wouldnt be a good idea.
just my 2 cents.
