Seriously thinking about going this route with my tank to be.

Was thinking about using a 20L for my 60g.

Logic:

Lot of surface area to grow macro, and still have plenty of room for a nice skimmer. Won't be cramping anything. Plus the low design of the tank will give good light penetration all the way down.

Concerns: Overkill? Could I get away with less?

Now how many watts/gallon is suggested for good growth?

And can I get some ideas for a good skimmer/pump set up?

Thanks in advance...Im looking to DIY, and DIY it right the first time!

Rember with Refugium bigger is always better. it's like adding a basement to your tank i use a 15g tall on a 55g tall at home with a cheap air powered skimmer the pump is up to you just take in account to add the Refugium into your GPH calculations. i use 5 watts per gallon but i have tall tanks 3 per should be good for you. i alos alternate my lights at night my ref. is on and during my tank is it helps keep all my levels stable. the DYI part isnt that hard either just remember dont skimp on the bio-media, and give yourself room for error (make sure it wont overflow if something goes wrong) especially with under tank setups (my first REALLY big mistake)
