I went to pick up a freebie 135g tank from my Uncle today. When we got it home, we slid it out of the back of the truck and the bottom end edge piece of plastic oak colored trim broke off. Can I just clean it up and silicone it back on? I know that the tank rests on this trim, I figure I can put it back into place and then when I set the tank into the stand, the stand trim will also hold it in place.

I looked at the rest corners of the tank and it appears that the trim is all individual pieces... so it doesn't seem that the trim helps support the actual walls of the tank in anyway.

Is this tank still ok to use if I reattach the broken piece of trim?

Thanks!

Wow you lucky thing..a free 135 gallon!! I'd sure try the silicone first and test for a leak. Ohhh the things I could do with a 135 gal!!

I am a lucky duck!! My Uncle is a bit of a nut. He gets into a new hobby and goes crazy! Well, fishkeeping was his new hobby about 3-4 years ago. He developed a raging case of MTS and soon had 7 tanks ranging from 20 gal long to this 135 gal. He got sick of the hobby, as I would with 7 tanks to maintain, and gave away all his tanks and fish at the end of last year. This 135 gal was the last one he kept, thinking that he'd enjoy just one tank to maintain.... but nope! He called me up and asked if I wanted it! Tank, stand, lids, filters... the whole bit! He just wanted it OUT of his house!

My 125 gal is a mixed tropical tank, hubby is desperate for Cichlids, so we're thinking a Malawi tank. Black gravel, black rock caves and tons of mbunas!

I'm spoiled! :p:
