A friend of mine has an overabundance of tadpoles from his pet frogs. he wants me to take roughly 20 of them to feed to my oscars. are tadpoles safe for oscars to be eatin?

As long as you quaranteen them and make sure they are not sick I dont see why not. I have even heard of people throwing baby house geckos or pinkies in their tanks for Large cichlids.

well my only concern is that these froggys are some kinda florida froggy and i dont know if they're the kind that has poison and what-have-you... maybe im just being to careful/protective though.

Interesting, that is something I did not consider. I dont know about that. I would try to ID the parent first then maybe use them.

and yet another conundrum arises with that. i asked the guy today and he said that these tadpoles of his are tadpoles from his sister's froggys. his sister lives in florida and recently(yesterday) sold the frogs to a petstore because she couldnt handle having a gazillion tadpoles to deal with every year. :(

Whatever you do please don't let him grow them out and release them! We have beautiful little threatened tree frogs here in Illinois who don't need the competition.

i wouldnt let him release them, id drop rocks on them before he did that, especially if these are any kind of poisonous froggys. im just going to tell him to give them to a pet store cause i dont want to risk it giving them to my oscars.
